CODE OF CONDUCT
  1. Introduction:
  2. Ambuja Vidya Niketan Trust  is the part of Ambuja Cements Limited and has 175 employees  The best business practices and ethical code are ingrained in the Company culture and its personnel and played a vital role in the success of the Company. This Code of Conduct establishes a common and consistent framework across the organization, including schools, for how we will achieve our mission and goals.

  3. Applicability:
  4. The Code of Conduct will apply to all the principals of the Ambuja schools and all the staff/ employees of the Trust.

  5. Accounting & Financial Reporting:
  6. All business transactions shall be recorded in true, fair and timely fashion in accordance with the accounting and financial reporting standards, accepted guidelines, principles and accounting standards generally followed in India and applicable to the Trust. The accounting procedures shall fairly and accurately reflect all the school’s business transactions and disposition of assets. All required information shall be accessible to the Trust’s auditors and other authorised persons and government agencies.

    All principals & Employees shall ensure that the school’s information furnished to the government departments/authorities, financial institutions and banks are authentic and accurate. In accordance with established procedures, appropriate accounting systems, controls and audits, the Trust ensures the reliability and accuracy of its accounts, records and reports.

  7. Confidentiality :
  8. Confidential information includes all non-public information, intellectual property rights such as new projects and plans, strategies, salary and benefits data, customer, employee and suppliers’ lists and any unpublished financial or other info. All Principals and Employees shall strive to protect confidential information acquired, generated, gathered or which otherwise came into their possession during the course of employment. The obligation to protect the Company’s proprietary and confidential
    information continues even after Directors and Employees leave the Company. The Directors and Employees must return all proprietary information in her/his possession upon leaving the Company.

  9. Compliance with Laws, Rules and Regulations :
  10. All Principals and Employees shall keep themselves updated in relation to laws/statutory compliances applicable to their scope of work and shall conduct school affairs with honesty and integrity and in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations and shall not commit any illegal or unethical act or instruct others to do so, for any reason.

  11. Expense Claims:
  12. All Principals and Employees are prohibited from claiming the expenses that are incurred for personal purpose. The expenses incurred in the course of employment and relating to the official work are to be claimed as per the authorisation policy of the Trust

  13. Protection and Proper Use of AVNT’s Assets:
  14. All Principals and Employees shall endeavour to protect the Trust’s assets against loss, theft or other misuse and are responsible for the careful use, protection, expenditure and administration of such assets. Any suspected loss, misuse or theft should be reported to the chairman, LMC. The trust’s assets and services like equipment, vehicles, houses, electronic resources (including, hardware, software and the data thereon) etc are for the use by the bonafide employees/ students only.  All principals and employees shall return the Trust’s assets entrusted to them while in office when they are leaving the service of the trust.

  15. Policy against Sexual Harassment:
  16. All the Principals and Employees of the Trust shall strive to maintain a work environment free from sexual harassment, whether physical, verbal or psychological. Stringent Disciplinary action shall be taken against any person found in breach of such a rule, including civil or criminal prosecution before the competent court of law.

  17. Email and Internet:
  18. Principals and Employees shall use the school’s email and internet facilities only for the purpose of the school. The Principals and Employees are prohibited from posting and disseminating school’s information and data on internet except for specific purpose and with  the prior written consent of the appropriate authorities. The Trust prohibits the use of internet facilities for accessing unauthorised, illegal or immoral web sites from the computers provided  at their workplace. ( Pl see Annexure – for additional information on IT Policy and Internet Usage)

  19. Use of Licensed Software:
  20. The software used by the school on Trust’s/Company’s equipment must be a licensed and legal software. The Principals and Employees are prohibited from using unauthorised and unlicensed software on the Trust’s equipment and the laptops provided by the trust.

  21. Communications:
  22. All Principals and employees must follow the Trust’s communication norms. All the communications to the local community and all inquiries from the press shall be handled only by the concerned department or by a person authorised by the trustees.

  1. All the principals & staff are expected to be exemplary in their public and private life. Their loyalty, sense of dedication and integrity of, character at all times should be an inspiration to the youth committed to their care. The teacher shall attend to his duties with care and commitment, be punctual in attendance and dutiful in respect of class room and also for any other work connected with the duties assigned to him by the Principal or LMC. He/She shall abide by the rules and regulations of the school and carry out the lawful orders and also show due respect to the constituted authorities.
  2. For discharging his/her professional duties efficiency, and setting an example to the students, one expects from teachers:-
  3. Regularity, punctuality and honesty of the highest order in abiding by the school timings and routines and carrying out the instructions and orders given.
  4. Tidiness and cleanliness of dress and general turnout.
  5. Politeness and courtesy in speech and manners as well as dignity in general behavior and conduct in and out of school.
  6. A high sense of morality and professional commitment.
  7. No speech, action or omission which will tend to spread rumor or slender or affect adversely the name and image of the institution, or any one associated with its members of staff, Board etc.
  8. Whole-hearted effort and involvement not only on the academic side, but also in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities as well as in the general administration.
  9. Strict abidance by the regulations laid down for leave.
  10. No member of staff shall:
    • Become a member of a party or organization whose policy or programme is illegal or unconstitutional; or approves or involves the use of violence; or disseminates idea which are antinational or encourage communal discord.
    • Take active part in the activities or propaganda of any political party.
    • Take recourse to meting out corporal punishment to pupils.
  11. Without written permission of the Principal, no employee shall:
    • Apply for any post elsewhere
    • Join any courses anywhere, or appear for any examination
    • Become member of any other educational institute or trust
    • Collect subscriptions from staff and students.
  12. No member of staff shall take up private tuition or any other gainful occupation, calling of business without prior written permission of the Principal. Permission for private tuition if given will be subject to conditions laid down by the Principal.
  13. No corporal punishment shall be inflicted by any student on any account, except by the Head of the institution who will use his/her discretion to do so in exceptional cases.
  14. Any breach or neglect of the above code of conduct and obligations, either by intent or by oversight, will constitute‘misconduct’ on the part of the employee and will render him/her liable to disciplinary action. The following acts shall also constitute breach of code of conduct :-       
  15. Habitual late coming and negligence of duty
  16. Use of abusive language, quarrelsome and riotous behaviour.
  17. Insubordination and defiance of lawful order.
  18. Disrespectful behaviour, rumour-mongering and character assassination.
  19. Making false accusations or assault either provided or otherwise.
  20. Use of liquor or narcotics on the school premises
  21. Embezzlement of funds or misappropriation of school property of theft or fraud.
  22. Mutilation/destruction of school records and property.
  23. Conviction by a court of law for criminal offence.
  24. Possession in school premises of weapons, explosives and other objectionable materials.
  25. Indulging in or encouraging any form of malpractice connected with examination or other school activities.
  26. Divulging confidential matters relating to school
  27.  Obstructing other members of the staff from lawful duties and indulging in any sort of agitation to coerce or embarrass the school authorities.
  28. Carrying on personal monetary transactions among themselves with the students and/or with the parents.
  29. Taking active part in politics
  30. Propagating through teaching lessons or otherwise communal or sectarian outlook or inciting or allowing any student to indulge in communal or sectarian activities.
  31. Making sustained neglect in correcting class work or home work.
  32. Taking private tuition without permission of school authorities
  33. Organizing or attending any meeting during school hours except when he is required to or permitted by the Head of the school to do so.    
  34. Absenting from work even though present in the school premises or absent without leave.
  35. Preparing or publishing any book or books commonly known as keys, or assist, whether directly or indirectly in their publication or as a selling agent or canvasser for any publishing firm or trader.
  36. Violating Internet Usage rules of the Trust.
  37. Asking for or accepting, except with the prior sanction of the trust any contribution or otherwise associate himself with the raising of funds of any kind or make any collection whether in cash or in kind, in pursuance of any object whatsoever except superscription from the members of any association of teachers.
  38. Awarding Gifts to Dignitaries : Mementoes like school crest may be given to the dignitaries invited from outside the organization for attending/presiding over school functions; no gift shall be given to executives of the Trust/ ACL.
  39. Accepting or permitting any member of his family or any other person acting on his behalf to accept, any gift from any student, parent or any person with whom he has come into contact by virtue of  his position in the school.

Explanation: a) The expression “gift” shall include free transport, boarding, lodging or other service or any other pecuniary advantage when provided by any person other than a near relation or personal friend having no dealings with him in connection with the school.
Note:  A casual lift or other social hospitality of a casual nature shall no be a gift.

RESPONSIBILITY: Each Principal and Employee of the Trust will be responsible for the observance of this Code of Conduct in both letter and spirit. Violations against this Code of Conduct will not be tolerated. Non-compliance may be subject to disciplinary actions including termination of employment. Any questions about this Code of Conduct should be referred to the C.E. Code of conduct for other employees: The Code of Conduct specified for teacher shall so far as may be, apply to other employees of Ambuja Group of schools.
